- Alpina is known throughout Europe for BMW special editions.
- The B6 sports tuned inline-six power and a sprightly 3-series chassis.
- Custom seats, steering wheel, and gearshift are inside.
Every Alpina is and isn’t BMW. BMW’s Bavarian factory supplied the body-in-white chassis. However, Alpina is considered a full manufacturer by Germany’s government and hand-assembles each car to order with its own VIN.
Any Alpina is a rare and coveted automobile. Here comes one.
Bring a Trailer, part of Hearst Autos like Car and Driver, is auctioning this 1984 Alpina B6 2.8, an E30 BMW with some nice embellishments. Based on the 323i, the Alpina version adds tuned inline-six power, interior enhancements, and exterior changes. This 1980s icon looks great with its 20-spoke wheels. A knockout.
This is the third of 259 Alpinas, which are sought for their exclusivity. Outside, Alpina’s gold stripe package over metallic grey paint and new front and rear spoilers are included. Inside are Alpina gauges, shift knob, Recaro sport seats with striping, and a four-spoke Momo steering wheel. Carburetors and crankshafts, Alpina’s earliest tuning parts, are on the crest.
BMW R 1250 GS Adventure, model year 2025
The B6’s 2.8-liter engine has Mahle pistons, reworked combustion chambers, higher compression, and camshaft and exhaust modifications from Alpina. It produced 210 horsepower and drove the rear wheels via a limited slip differential.
H&R lowering springs lower this one, and Bilstein dampers are new. E30s are known for their raw driving experiences, and this one could be even better. The power is slightly more than an E30 M3, but the tuned inline-six delivers 5-series power in a 3-series chassis.
The incredible amount of work done here is even greater. The seller has replaced gasoline tanks, brakes, and suspension. Most of the eight-month renovation was filmed.
Alpinas are rarer in the U.S. than in Europe, so here’s a rare chance to own BMW’s greatest, polished to a shine.
On December 11, the bidding concludes.
