In October 2024, 28 Years Later cast member Ralph Fiennes told Indie Wire about the project.
Harry Potter star: “Britain is 28 years into this terrible plague of infected people who are violent, rabid humans with a few pockets of uninfected communities. “And it centers on a young boy who wants to find a doctor for his dying mother.”
Ralph added that the protagonist “leads his mother through this beautiful northern English terrain.” Infected people hide in forests, hills, and woods around them. But he finds a doctor who seems unusual but is good.”
